Stocked up on 'Minties' and a full tank of petrol the Holloway crew packed into the blue van (which we’ll just call Noah in this instance) like a tin of sardines, leaving only enough room for the golf bags to snuggle up against the boot door.
As Noah heaved its way up and over Kaimai's, the team listen to the latest belt of music from Muse and talk up their golf abilities (or lack of). Forty minutes later Noah arrives and passengers spill from every direction. You can’t help but feel a whir of excitement well up inside you. After all it’s not every Friday that the team training session ends up being at the beautiful Okoroire Hotel.
The designers among the team take time to Marvel at the famous 'Olde World' country pub built in the 1880's nestled in eighty acres of park surroundings on the banks of the Waihou River. The rest of the team make their way over to the 9 hole golf course.
A range of skills proudly displayed from the first tee off and to be fair some moments were ones not to be proud of. The serious golf enthusiasts among the team made their mark early on in the round while others never seemed to be able to catch a break and lagged further behind.
The clear winner at the end? That would have to be a toss up between Hilton and Nicole (the two designers believe it or not). Gareth was excluded from the competition as his skills outshone everyone. Jillian was too loud too make a real go of it and Lana didn't do to bad. When Mark managed to actually hit the ball not and not just take a slice out of the well groomed course he wasn’t too bad. Steffan bumbled his way along losing a few balls along the way but came out the other end with a rather admirable score…and Ruby, well let’s just say golfing was never really her true calling so she made a go of it behind the camera snapping some Kodak moments.
All in all a great team training session (lots of marketing ideas were thrown around on the course of course) finished off by an always anticipated oversized pub lunch.
