Holloway’s guide to writing plain English marketing strategies.

Managers who prefer simple, pragmatic thinking will enjoy it. If your marketing strategy is to produce effective advertising, it should be brief, and address the real issues. The 8 steps are actually 8 questions. Put each question at the top of a new page, make it your heading, and then under your heading write the answers.Click here to read

Our Team

Team_Mark.jpg

From his controversial stunts on politics in the local rag, to the tales and adventures of his beloved Harley Davidson and his passionate divisive take on Advertising, it’s possible that you’ve heard of Mark Holloway.

Marks larger than life personality is certainly infectious and his overly active creative mind has him wildly jotting down a flurry of ideas that often come to him in the middle of the night. While not every scheme is practical it’s the job of Marks team to decipher the “flurry” and channel into structured plans that will get results for the clients. Mark is always thinking of the end goal. Increasing sales of our clients and thinking about what steps we will take to achieve the desire result.

While inspiration for clients is always running rife in his head, Mark does have a life outside of work. Miriam is patient and quintessential soccer mum (not to mention the motor cross, piano lessons, netball, cooking and looking after the animals in between). Their five children (Rossi, Jackson, Ashford, Vinny, and Freedom) are all a combination of their bull at a gate dad, and softly spoken mother. If you ever see the Holloway Family on holiday or even a weekend away you they it’s not uncommon to see their Previa bursting with all the necessities bar the kitchen sink. With a few car loads of family friends in tow a familiar sight are a few boat loads heading out to Mayor Island. While the Holloways are taking guardianship of their friends boat the 35 foot Mandolin Sailing boat (Marks other pride and joy) they make the most of every warm weekend during the Summer months enjoying dolphin watching and the odd catch of a Kingfisher. Mark adds that he caught his first one a short time ago and with the excitement of young child eagerly smoked it and ate it right away onboard the vessel.

Mark is obsessive about advertising that works. Always full of enthusiasm and stories, he's the great encourager of the work environment. A great, powerful and creative salesman and with years advertising notched on his belt and he's always keen to sell you a new idea or concept. He enjoys sailing, hiking and of course riding his beloved Harley off into the sunset, destined for those far away places.

Team-Mikkel.jpg

While he prefers to be called 'Superman' around the office in nostalgia of his rowing past, Mikkel attacks client jobs with precision and expert skill.
After growing up in Wellington, Mikkel completed a Bachelor of Commerce and Administration at Victoria University majoring in Marketing, Commercial Law and Accounting. With this hefty study schedule, it's also quite a feat that he became a premier NZ rower as well. Obviously Mikkel is a team member who loves to push things to their limit.

When it comes to marketing, Mikkel relishes the opportunity to tackle any job big or small, often adding in his insight whenever a challenge is presented. Mikkel enjoys strategising with clients and coming up with campaign ideas to ensure his clients are on the right track, and his linguistic prowess knows no bounds.

Outside of work, Mikkel is a sports-mad fitness freak, often leaping up the mount in a single bound, playing touch and getting into any sport that's challenging. When he's not playing sports, he's hanging out with his partner Anna in Cambridge.

Team Jules 1

Julz (or JuJu to some) joins the Holloway bunch to head the DIY Marketing Programme and takes up a role as junior Marketing Consultant. She adds to the female population of the crew to provide some backup for Nat.

Falling off her chair and consequently lying flat on her back within her first week in the office is probably something she’ll be remembered for, not to forget the hundred questions a day that are asked and how pedantic she can be with making sure things are right.

After leaving school, Julz completed a Bachelor of Sport and Leisure Studies with Honours with marketing and public relations being the support subjects to her degree.

Originally from Rotorua, JuJu joined the Holloway madhouse and made the move to brighter pastures to be closer to friends and of course the sun, sand and surf. In her spare time, you’ll find her not sitting down (that’s for sure) but on the beach, in the water, or talking to someone. She enjoys travel, watching all sports especially rugby and playing netball and touch.

Team-Natalie.jpg

Inspiring clients with beautiful designs is Nat, our all-knowledgeable design den leader, conquering scientific advertising and wrapping it up in a deliciously designed package.

Don’t let her lovely and gentle demeanour mislead you, Nat has razor sharp mind, something you need to be to keep the rest of the team under control! Nat is our Senior Designer, managing deadlines, last minute requests, urgent jobs and keeping cool and level headed throughout. Seldom will you see Nat unnerved, she is like a duck under pressure – calm from the outset but working like mad underneath!

Nat has completed a Bachelor of Media Arts, specializing in Graphic Design and is always looking for opportunities to upskill to make sure she keeps on top of new trends and new technologies for our clients. But Nat’s design skills aren’t applicable only to the computer, she is also a fantastic photographer and has taken a cake decorating course which she often shows off her considerable skills.

In her spare time, you’d mistake her for The Flash, flying around and up the mount in her sneakers off for a run, playing touch, netball and every other sport you can think of. In fact, you’ll almost never see her in one spot for any length of time during the weekends – keeping fit and healthy is a big part of being Nat.

Team Ian 1

Ian's passive and calm personality makes him a very popular member of the Holloway team and also with our clients. With a creative mind that doesn't stop, he enjoys the pressure and challenges but also the rewards that come from this industry.

With the upgrades in software, hardware and online technologies, learning is most important to Ian these days. On a rainy day you'll find him reading up on Bauhas history, Swiss design and new modern day designers making imprints on the world and incorporating these into everyday design jobs.

Ian believes the design world is a massive animal, and enjoys print and web based design. His experience has given him knowledge in both areas including the education system, and printing industry. Over the past two decades of Ian's career he has seen first hand the influence of the computer. For Ian it started with paper and pen, photolithography, manual design processes, which in turn has given him a great appreciation of design techniques, processes and a eagerness for the future.

Prior to spending 5 years teaching in the tertiary sector, Ian spent 5 years in London, working for a publication company and a design agency, then getting a dream job in Spain for 3 years. Luckily for Holloways, family bought him back to New Zealand. Ian is the proud dad of three great kids and loves spending time with them in this beautiful city called Tauranga. Nearly every weekend you'll find Ian at the beach or outdoors, he loves cooking for friends and family and also just sitting and watching the world and thinking about those complex questions.
